Calamari

It is forbidden within Tarvuism to eat calamari (squid) or octopus, out of respect for Oobu the Holy Octopus who rescued Tarvu from drowning.

In recent years, a calamari substitute has emerged (originally from South Korea) called 'Calabunty'. Calabunty tastes similar to calamari, but contains no octopus products whatsoever. It is made chiefly from soya, whey and titluin.

There is also an octopus substitute from Canada, known as 'Octoplus', which is made from goats cheese, liver and titluin.
