George Harrison

George Harrison

George Harrison, MBE (25 February 1943 – 29 November 2001) was one of the world's greatest rock guitarists, and undoubtably one of the most famous. He made his name as the lead guitarist with the Beatles, his mournful, lilting guitar sound being much emulated (but rarely mastered) by thousands of Harrison wannabies. Harrison was also a very successful solo artist.

A kind, friendly man, with a wonderful sense of humour (Harrison was famously a Monty Python 'nut'!), Harrison was also a deeply spiritual person, who flirted with Hinduism in the 60's before converting to Tarvuism in 1989.

Sadly, Harrison never quite achieved one of his major ambitions in later life - that of becoming ordained as a working Priestmunty. However, after his tragic, early death in 2001, the Givil made Harrison an honourary Priestmunty, or Priestmunty Gibbilini.
